About BeadSnap
I'm Chen, a dad and maker. I built BeadSnap because I wanted to turn my kids' photos and drawings into Perler bead patterns without paying for bloated software or signing up for accounts. BeadSnap runs entirely in your browser — your photos never touch a server. It's free, forever.
Bead crafting is one of our family's favorite offline activities. There's something calming and deeply satisfying about placing tiny colored beads one by one — it pulls kids (and adults) away from screens and into a creative, focused flow. When you start with a photo of something meaningful — a pet, a family snapshot, a child's drawing — the finished piece becomes physical art you can hang on your wall, stick to the fridge, or give as a gift. It's a beautiful way to turn digital memories into something you can hold.
Why BeadSnap is different
Real Perler color matching
BeadSnap maps every pixel to the nearest color from the official 38-color Perler palette using perceptual color distance. What you see on screen is what you'll actually build with real beads.
Accurate bead count & shopping list
Every pattern comes with an exact color-by-color bead count and a one-click "Copy shopping list" button so you know exactly what to buy before you start.
Privacy-first
Your photos never leave your browser. All processing happens locally on your device using the Canvas API. We can't see your images — and we wouldn't want to.
100% free, no signup
No accounts, no subscriptions, no paywalls. Just open the page and start creating. BeadSnap is supported by occasional ads and a lot of stubbornness.
Have a question, idea, or just want to show off a finished project? I'd love to hear from you.
